Upper Primary

We follow ICSE curriculum for classes 6 to 8, which aims at equipping and empowering the children to meet the challenges of the ongoing changes in society and to have a holistic and positive as well as knowledge-based life. The courses are chosen carefully to broaden their minds, communication skills, widen their studies and job opportunities, to strengthen their mental and emotional capacities, to have a strongly disciplined life, based on moral values and ethics, awareness about themselves and the country and the world, scientific approach towards life, empathy towards fellow citizens and a good civic sense.

We also provide supportive subjects like

  • Moral Education: Regular moral education classes are held to impart moral and ethical values which help the students to differentiate right and wrong.

  • Abacus: To comprehend the concepts of mathematics, decimals, numbers, our students are taught Abacus

  • Vedic mathematics: Trained faculty train the students in Vedic Maths, to enable them with easier and faster methods of calculations

  • Handwriting classes: Handwriting experts train our students right from the very beginning, the right strokes and curves of good handwriting. This enables the students to write in a neat and legible way. 5 marks is allotted for every subject in all major exams

  • Physical Education: Keeping in mind the physical fitness of the students, there are yoga classes and other physical exercises are taught to the students. Games periods are there every week when students can indulge in various sports activities

  • General knowledge: To empower the students with more knowledge outside the text books, we have General Knowledge classes

  • Art and Craft: Through the Art and Craft classes, the creativity of our students is enhanced. This helps in developing the fine motor skills and also hand and eye coordination is improved

Teaching learning process

  • Bloom’s taxonomy: which aims at remembering, understanding, applying, analysing, evaluating and creating, is incorporated into the curriculum to make the learning process interesting. The classes are delivered by recalling previous knowledge, understanding, application of the knowledge through experiments, eliciting, seminars

  • Digital Classes are supported through Tata class edge

  • Regular field trips, small projects, quizzes etc are conducted to make the concepts clear

The curriculum at De Paul is planned in such a way that

  • Students learn moral and ethical values and learn to become responsible human beings
  • Students excel in communication skills and are capable of expressing themselves in an effective an articulate manner

  • A keen interest in science grows in the students which in turn propels them to seek more knowledge

  • The learning of basic computer skills makes the students future ready and also provide them with more knowledge

Assessment and Evaluation

There are four main Examinations through the year to evaluate the learning outcomes of our students

Apart from the above, regular assignments, class tests, and quizzes are conducted after every lesson. Projects are given to students to assess their understanding of a particular topic
